Al-Bukhari on Taking Care of Daughters and Young Girls, and Being Kind to them
By Abu Amina Elias for FaithinAllah.org
Al-Bukhari recorded in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad:
Uqbah ibn Amir reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Whoever has three daughters and he is patient with them, he clothes them from his wealth; then they will be a shield for him from the Hellfire.
Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
There is no Muslim who has two daughters and he cares for them well except that he will enter Paradise.
Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Whoever has three daughters and he provides for them, clothes them, and is merciful to them; then he will enter Paradise.
A man said, “And two daughters, Messenger of Allah?” He said:
And two.
Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
There is no one who has three daughters or three sisters and he is good to them except that he will enter Paradise.
Musa ibn ‘Ali reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Shall I tell you about the greatest charity?
He said, “Of course, O Messenger of Allah.” He said:
To provide for your daughter when she is returned to you and you are her sole source of provision.
Al-Miqdam ibn Ma’dikarib reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
What you feed yourself is charity for you; what you feed your child is charity for you; what you feed your wife is charity is for you; what you feed your servant is charity for you.
It is reported that there was a man who had daughters and he was in the presence of Ibn Umar when he wished that his daughters were dead. Ibn Umar became angry and he said:
While you are providing for them?
Success comes from Allah, and Allah knows best.
